Fans around the world are rallying behind Chrissy Teigen and John Legend after the couple shared a deeply personal update about their 6-year-old son, Miles. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Teigen revealed that Miles had recently been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and the journey had already taken a major emotional toll on their family.
“A lot of you noticed something special in a photo I posted the other day,” she wrote. “It was Miles holding up a sign for Simone Biles, cheering her on. But many of you picked up on something else—his raised arm, which showed his medical device. And your messages… wow. The kindness, support, and love were overwhelming.”
The cookbook author and former model followed up with another emotional message, explaining that the show of support gave her family much-needed strength during a very vulnerable moment.
“This post is to say thank you,” she added. “It means the world to Miles—and to us—to know we’re not alone in this.”
A Book, a Diagnosis, and a Moment That Broke Her
Teigen also shared that she and John had started reading Year One with Type 1 to help explain things to Miles in a way he could understand. But reading the book turned into a moment that caught her completely off guard.
“We read it together last night,” she wrote. “I got to a certain page, and I just lost it. I had to leave the room so he wouldn’t see me crying.”
She said Miles has already developed a love for the book, and it’s helping him learn that living with Type 1 diabetes doesn’t mean giving up joy or possibility.
A Message of Solidarity From Nick Jonas
Among the many supporters was Nick Jonas, who was diagnosed with the same condition when he was just 13. The singer and actor has long been a vocal advocate for Type 1 diabetes awareness.
After Teigen shared the story, Jonas responded with support and encouragement. Teigen later revealed that they actually met Jonas and his family during the Olympics, and she was touched by how sweetly he interacted with Miles.
“Nick treated him so kindly!” she wrote. “We were so lucky to run into him. He made Miles feel seen and strong.”
Fans who have also walked this road chimed in with their own experiences, offering resources, reassurance, and love.
“My two brothers have T1. That book helped so much. Your son is going to do just fine—he’s got you,” one user commented.
A Family United at the Olympics
Chrissy and John, who are also parents to Luna (8), and twins Esti and Wren (both 1), recently appeared at the Olympic opening ceremony in Paris, bringing Luna and Miles along for the unforgettable experience.
Despite heavy rain, Teigen called it “an absolutely epic night” in her caption, sharing photos of the family beaming in the grandstands.
“Sure, it was a little (a lot) rainy, but wowowowowow… unforgettable.”
And in a touching full-circle moment, she reposted the photo of herself, Miles, and Luna cheering for Simone Biles—this time with new meaning, as the image became a symbol of resilience, courage, and quiet strength.
