Dayle Haddon, Iconic Supermodel and Actress, Dies at 76 from Carbon Monoxide Leak

Dayle Haddon, the internationally renowned supermodel who graced the covers of countless magazines and made memorable appearances in film and television, has passed away at the age of 76. Authorities report that she died on Friday in Solebury, Pennsylvania, due to an apparent carbon monoxide leak.

According to the Solebury Township Police Department, Haddon was found deceased Friday morning in a second-floor bedroom of a detached office and in-law suite at a private residence. Nearby, 76-year-old Walter J. Blucas—father of actor Marc Blucas—was discovered unconscious and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Police confirmed that the incident was caused by a malfunctioning flue and exhaust pipe in a gas heating system, which led to a deadly carbon monoxide leak.

“The officers and members of the Solebury Township Police Department wish to extend our sincere condolences to the Haddon and Blucas families,” the department said in an official statement. “This tragic event is a sobering reminder of the importance of taking carbon monoxide safety precautions in our homes.”

The residence where the incident occurred is owned by Haddon’s daughter, journalist and  TV personality Ryan Haddon, and her husband, Hallmark actor Marc Blucas.

Ryan Haddon later posted a heartfelt tribute to her mother on Instagram.

Born on May 26, 1948, in Montreal, Quebec, Dayle Haddon began her artistic journey as a ballet dancer before transitioning to modeling, where she quickly rose to international fame. Her image appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and many other major publications. Celebrated for her timeless beauty, she became a trailblazer in redefining age standards in the beauty industry and served as a spokesperson for major brands such as L’Oréal and Estée Lauder.

Beyond modeling, Haddon pursued a successful acting career in the 1970s and 1980s, with notable roles in North Dallas Forty, Max Headroom, and The Hitchhiker, showcasing her versatility as an actress.

In later years, she became an author and wellness advocate. Her book The 5 Principles of Ageless Living offered guidance on graceful aging and inner beauty. Passionate about making a difference, Haddon also served as a UNICEF ambassador, dedicating her time and influence to global humanitarian causes.

Dayle Haddon leaves behind a legacy of beauty, resilience, and compassion. She will be remembered not only for her glamorous career but also for the depth and warmth she brought to every stage of her life.

Rest in peace.
